What’s up Naturalistas, Welcome to my first ever blog! (since the tumblr days LOL). For my first post I’m going to start with an introduction on myself and what brings me here! My name is Tatsianna Lighty and I’m from Richmond, Virginia. I am 21 years old and I go to Radford University as a fashion merchandising student. I’m actually making this for a social media marketing class in school but I think it’s an awesome outlet to possible new beginnnings. I love taking pictures on my spare time and being on social media anyways so, this could make a huge difference to my following on different websites. I am making this blog all about natural hair/curly hair! What made me think of this is because lately I have been reallly liking the transformation my hair has been having since my long hair care journey. First of all, my hair was not always this curly at all. Growing up curly natural hair was not the thing to have.. We(black girls) would get teased on how big our hair was! I had huge, long hair and all i wanted was straight hair! I asked my mom to straighten all the time, I went to the dominicans every two weeks! (ya’ll know how that goes). I tried perming my hair before to make it straighter but my hair was so thick it didn’t take the chemicals. I really hated my hair but, once i got to high school is when I learned there were products you could use in your curly hair to make it defined and healthier. I still had pretty much damaged hair so my hair wouldn’t have really pretty curls but they were forming better as i learned how to take care of it. Once I got to high school I started dying my hair all these different colors and even bleaching it. That’s when my hair got really messed up and I realized I need to change it to a neutral color to get my healthy hair back. It is now about 4 years later from dying it to black then now I’m back to my normal color (light/dark brown)! What I want to get at in this blog is all about my journey how my hair went from not healthy at all and now I have these tight curls all over my head I was surprised I could even get! I am going to talk about my different products, fun things to do with your hair, different hairstyles and just healthy tips on how to take care of your hair! I’ll be posting weekly about a different subject and I hope you guys like it! Tips and reccomendations are highly appreciated as well! Thank you for reading my blog! See you next week naturalistas!

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)
This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.
You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
- Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
- Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
